Colorado Wildlife Council "Science in the Wild"
Outdoor recreation has grown more than 40% over the past decade. But the very things people love most—open space, trails, wildlife—are funded largely by hunters and anglers. Many outdoor enthusiasts don’t realize this. Some even support ballot initiatives that restrict hunting and fishing—unintentionally cutting off critical funding for conservation, research, and habitat restoration. We set out to challenge “ballot box biology” and reframe the conversation around “Science in the Wild.” The result: Two separate referenda were defeated, the latest by more than 10 points with more than 83% of Colorado residents approving of regulated hunting and over 90% approving of fishing.
